How to Improve your Football Game and Habit

How to Improve your Football Game and Habit

The game of football has been changing and improving every day, individual players are learning new skills, improving in their fitness, doing some tweaking and so much more to step up their game. The game of football is so interest that you need to think, calculate and be confident to give result, when you read my previous post on “The Mathematics in Football Game”, I talk on how football game is very different from other sport because in football players need to be thinking and be creative when making moves from point A to point B else you lose the ball which affect the entire team.
In this article, we will be looking at how to improve your Football game and Habit needed to achieve it, which will be focusing on Thinking, Vision, Movement and Stand in the game as a Football player.

1.      Thinking: What do you “think” of before the game, during the game and after the game?

·         Before the game: Players need to think on how they need to play the game depending on the position they playing, watch opponents game or matches few days or weeks before your match and see their strength and weakness. Also footballer player must learn to understand the opponents position that you are pairing with in the pitch to know your counter attack and movement against them before the game which can give you better knowledge to win the game or make the game easy
·         During the game: Players need to free their mind and focus on the game when playing, players need to talk less and avoiding shouting so you can gather energy and strength to think well, players should to be creative in their thinking before the ball gets to you and when you are with the ball within a few seconds
·         After the game: Players need to relax, hydrate yourself and take fruit to help stabilize your body, sleeping is another way players can do to gain energy and  keeps the memory cool, at least sleep for 7-9 hours at night. Also watch your game you played last in order to know your mistakes and correct them with this you get to improve yourself for your next game

2.      Vision: This is what most players lack sincerely; most players tend to look down with ball and fail to look up to visualize your move. There are times during the game if only you looked up to see your fellow player trying to make a move then you should have make a through pass which should have turn a goal for you team but because you never have that vision the opportunity was lost. When the ball is with you and not with you try to look up more than once to see what to do and not to do

3.      Move and Stand: This another issue players need to look into to improve their game positively, sometimes when the ball is with your team mate you need to know if a move need to be made or not and where to stand  to receive the ball and make a pass or launch a goal. It is advisable to always watch games of other players you look up to, how they make moves, where they stand to gain or receive the ball etc with this you can step up the game of your team and improve your game big time

To me, Football game as a whole is different from other sport; it doesn’t only require your power, strength, speed and agility but more of a mental game. I believe 96% of the game is brain work and the 4% is power, strength, speed and agility, you might disagree with me but the fact is there to those who into the game. If you do notice, you might have watch some amateurs or former players who don’t train at all or who have stopped training long time ago but when they are with ball they do magical things, they have the vision, movement and very creative with the ball and off the ball, but that’s not to say that physical training is excluded, No; in fact is needed for players improvement and overall physical fitness and also health wise.
