The Easiest Position in a Soccer Game

 Each position in a soccer game needs all kind of skills and the fact is each position are easier depending on the individual. Over the years, I have been playing different role in the field, I can tell you from my personal experience that all position are neither easy nor difficult depending on how good the players are and playing in their various position. For me, I won’t say any position are neither easy or difficult because that should depend on the players ability in that position, this is because different positions in the soccer game carries relatively little responsibility or expectations needed from them.

 Managers, upcoming footballers and fans have argued this topic over the years, which position is easy or difficult to play with their different opinions on it. But let me give few explanations why I feel neither position are easy and you might agree or disagree with me at the end.  

Let me give some few explanation on each positions/roles and how they affect the game base on my experience

 

The Full Back: I have played full back position many times and other positions together in different soccer game and I know how those positions are; Full back, it is one of the important positions in any team and the position of a full back can impact a game big time. But in some cases, I could possibly lose fitness may be due to stress or fatigue in the game and full back position might be the only role I will play well to make an impact in the game but still it shouldn’t be consider easy for some players. Some fans have argued that full back defenders usually get the ball less often than most other players playing other positions in the team. As it is often said “The less time any players are in contact with the ball the less decisions are made, fewer action are taken and less work for the players to deliver” because fewer opportunities to affect the outcome of the game positively or negative. If looking for a role that give the minimum opportunity to make use of the ball then full back roles might be seen as the easiest position for some people and moreover the full back runs less on the pitch compare to other position. 

But in saying this, I personally will not agree with those fans who feel or think full back have less task to do in the pitch and should be consider easy roles they play; No, because sometimes when this set of defenders meet with hot and tough attackers, they need to be fully fit and strong to stand against such attackers from scoring which also means that this pattern of play isn’t easy for them and that shouldn’t be consider easy role at all due to the energy put to defend the ball from scoring by some tough attackers. 

The Central Defenders: These are the last line of defense role in the soccer game before the goal keeper. These set of this player position are meant to always put themselves on the line in blocking the ball from scoring by tough attackers, they also are needed from them to effectively and positively communicate and balance every movement of the other defenders in the game, so still we won’t consider their roles easy or difficult which as I said earlier it depends on the players and their intelligence to make the game easy for them or not. 

 The Central Midfielder: This set of players’ position is responsible in moderating, controlling the game. Most times, these midfielders are considered the engine room or power handler of the team because this is where the most important amount of effort is taken place. Most of the times, the ball is often with them as they sharing the ball around the team and also avoiding the ball from going past them. And this set of players must be creative in thinking as quick as possible 

 The Strikers: This position is really responsible in scoring goals for the team. If the goal doesn’t come then the team isn’t winning. So in that case, the pressure and effort of these strikers or attackers is to make any chance a goal. 

 The goalkeepers: This important position in the field which must not be considered “easy” because this person will try every possible means to prevent the ball from scoring. Every time a goal is been scored everyone will always look at the goal keeper especially if the goal was consider “cheap”. Furthermore, the goal keeper position in the field is very vital and must not be look away as if they aren’t doing much job on the pitch and aren’t different from every other players in the game. 

Conclusion, As I have been saying from the beginning of this article, the decision over the position and roles is easy or not is ultimately a subjective opinion. There is no definitive facts that one players roles is easy than the other. Every player’s position has its advantages and disadvantages in the game. Anyone can agree or disagree on this kind of topic, which is okay! There can be different opinions and ideas of people on why this and that position should be consider easy or not but the same since everyone has their efforts and roles they put in the game. So no position is easy or difficult, it all depends on the individual's ability and skills in any position they find themselves to affect the game
